Republican David Dreier is Corrupt

Congressman David Dreier (R-CA) wants to maintain the dirty system of legislators accepting gifts from groups trying to buy influence.

And he’s stopping honest Congressmen from voting for a decent system.

From Common Cause:

Rather than force members of Congress to go on record as to their position on amendments that actually qualify as meaningful ethics and lobbying reform, House Rules Committee Chairman David Dreier (R-CA) has ruled all of these amendments “out of order,” for various reasons.

This is not rocket science. Why not even consider the amendments that would increase lobby disclosure and toughen enforcement of the rules?

Because members don’t want people to see that they voted against these things.

Matthew Borghese of All Headline News has more on these amendments Dreier blocked:

Republicans blocked amendments that would impose a ban on gifts from lobbyists, create a new office to oversee ethics violations in the House, and make retiring lawmakers wait longer before becoming lobbyists.

Even a Republican is speaking out against this phony lobbying reform bill which Dreier is pushing through:

Still others, such as Rep. Christopher Shays (Conn.) said the bill was less than a window dressing and should be rejected. Later, to reporters, he called the bill “pathetic.

On the House floor, [the Republican] added: “We’re losing our moral authority to lead this place.”

I was watching TV during Dreier’s Meeting. He was allowing various House Reps. to bring amendments to the attendion of he and his co-chairperson, I believe Slaughter. She was quite feisty. At one point, she was talking over him. He was getting very agitated. Conyer gave him some of his ideas as well as others. Of course, we know the ideas went no where. He already knew how he was framing the legislature - and as Chris Shays said it’s pathetic.

There is only one way to bring about an end to this corruptio on the house rules committe That is to help out Russ Warner to retire David Dreier forever. Volunteer–Contribute. Dreier had a considerable war chest. It is the only way to end this corruption.
