If the PTC just wanted to tell potential viewers that shows-like-”Desperate Housewives”-aren’t-for-the-whole-family, I’d be fine with that.

It’s the fact that they combine that with asking the FCC to fine broadcasters for certain shows which bothers me about the PTC.

I find it interesting that the PTC never hammers at the Soap Operas that are on during the day. They are not even in their list of shows. These shows are just like Desperate Housewives. They depict the worst in life, illigitimate kids, murders, etc. I guess they do not talk about it because they do not affect kids because they are in school during that time. Just like kids should be in bed during time in which Desperate Housewives is on, nevermind that.

I find it very annoying that they are trying to protect my kids from what is on television. I believe that I am a big enough person to know what is appopriate for my kids and what is not. I am very capable of turning the channel when something inappropriate is on when my kids are up. I can just use my DVR to record what I want and watch it after they go to bed.

Ben Scott -

Good point.

Howard Stern says that when his radio show is on (6AM-10AM Eastern) is the time that kids are the most supervised.

But Howard Stern’s show is subject to the most fines.

I think that the media is part of his problem. He has ruffled some feathers during his career and everyone tends to pay extra attention to him. He is unfairly targeted as a result. He has become an easy target for those promoting sensorship, ie PTC.
